Encinitas-based Dudek & Associates, Inc. celebrated its 20th anniversary April 1 with the opening of its new and expanded offices at 750 Second St.
The new office has an additional 12,000 square feet of space for its water and wastewater planning, design and management divisions.
The new office is a short distance from Dudek’s headquarters at 605 Third St., bringing the total office space to 30,000 square feet in the downtown Encinitas area.
The corporate headquarters building will continue to house the firm’s environmental sciences, construction management and information systems divisions. The firm’s civil engineering, land planning and development division is nearby at 610-620 Second St.
Frank Dudek, chief executive officer, said his company is committed to the area.
“Our staff loves the small, beach-town feel of Old Encinitas, where we can walk to restaurants and shops or hit the surf if the waves are pumping,” he said.
“To help attract the people we want these days, we need to provide a special work environment with an easy commute for North County residents. That’s why we’ve stayed and grown in Encinitas, even though it’s difficult to find suitable space.”
Dudek plans to double in size over the next five years, and to increase its shareholders, who now total 35 and are all employees of the firm.
“Our board recently made it official that we would stay private and not sell out to a larger national firm, as many of our competitors have in recent years. We’re having fun building a great company, and we want to reward our staff with ownership in the company they’re working so hard to build,” Dudek said.
Founded in 1980, the firm has grown to more than 125 employees. The company provides consulting services in planning, management, engineering, land surveying, environmental sciences, construction and information systems, as well as field operations, monitoring, and inspection to both public and private clients, primarily in Southern California. Dudek has satellite offices in Santa Barbara, Orange and Palm Desert.
