A local disease prevention company is now offering a way for patients to get a complete body scan that includes almost all of the body’s vital organs.
LifeScore recently released TotalScore, which combines its electronic beam CT scanners to present a total picture of chest and abdominal health.
The scanner is able to detect potentially serious or life-threatening diseases that affect the heart, lungs, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, kidneys, and the thoracic and abdominal aorta, according to the company. The scan takes 15 minutes and the patient is awake and clothed.
“EBCT technology allows us to examine the body non-invasively and know for certain if there is coronary plaque in the coronary arteries, long before damage is done to the heart,” said C. Michael Wright, cardiologist and president for LifeScore.
