The San Diego Workforce Partnership was awarded a $7 million grant recently and will receive up to $28 million for its San Diego Youth @ Work program over the next five years from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The program is aimed at helping the academic progress of at-risk youth in southeastern San Diego. The program’s primary features are job placement, job readiness training, skills training, dropout prevention, and community support.
About 1,200 youths between 16 and 21 years old will benefit from the program that will be managed by the Workforce Partnership, the regional job training agency.
