Shares in Cymer Inc. rose in after-hours trading after the San Diego company, which makes a key component in the fabrication of microchips, reported fourth-quarter and 2004 earnings.
In the fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 31, Cymer reported net income of $8.4 million on revenue of $99.6 million. In the year-ago quarter, Cymer reported net income of $1.7 million on revenue of $72.4 million.
For 2004, Cymer reported net income of $41.2 million on revenue of $389.6 million. Revenue was a record high. In 2003, Cymer had a net loss of $15.4 million on revenue of $265.9 million.
Cymer makes laser light sources for microchip foundries.
The company, based in Rancho Bernardo, reported earnings Jan. 25 after its stock closed out the trading day at $23.48. In after-hours trading, Cymer stock rose to the $25 range. Cymer trades on the Nasdaq as CYMI.
