Leap Wireless International said Feb. 17 that it is rolling out its Cricket cell phone service and associated retail operations in Chicago and surrounding regions.
By entering the market, Leap takes on 2,150 employees in the Chicago area. Leap uses wireless spectrum in the area held by Denali Spectrum Manager.
Leap Wireless is the parent company of Cricket Communications, which provides flat-rate wireless services.
Its stock trades on Nasdaq as LEAP. Shares were at $25.16 at midday Feb. 17, down 7 percent from the previous session’s close. Its 52-week range was $14.18-$61.67.
