Credit Union Will Sponsor Poinsettia Bowl

San Diego County Credit Union, the area’s largest credit union with more than $2.5 billion in assets, was named the title sponsor of the Poinsettia Bowl, the new post-season college football game set to debut at Qualcomm Stadium on Dec. 22.

The organizers of the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, which will manage the new bowl game, said the credit union signed a two-year sponsoring agreement. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. This year’s Holiday Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 29.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego was signed as the event’s beneficiary, with $1 from each ticket sold going directly to the foundation. Organizers said they hope to attract about 40,000 fans to the first game.

Last year, the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl generated an economic impact on the region of $38.2 million, and organizers said they hoped the Poinsettia Bowl would produce about $20 million in its first year.
