Barnhart, Inc. completed the tenant improvements to the Copley Symphony Hall offices at 1235 Seventh Ave. in Downtown San Diego. The remodeling project included the installation of a new elevator and a water tower system, as well as interior and electrical utility upgrades.

Cost: $2.7 million.

Architect: Dominy & Associates.

Subcontractors: Otis Elevator, Bergelectric, Casper Co., Alpha Mechanical, International Iron and Division 8 Glass.

Johnson & Jennings General Contracting has completed tenant improvement construction for the new offices of Geary Interactive, a software design company in the Bank of America Plaza building at 450 B St. in Downtown San Diego. The work included construction of new offices and the installation of new flooring and specialized lighting.

Cost: $200,000.

Project manager: Carl Haines.

On-site supervisor: John Batis.

Subcontractors: ICS Mechanical, Qualtec Electric, Best Interiors, Howar’s Rug Co. and Quality Painting.

Jaynes Corp. is well past the midpoint of construction of the National City Public Library, on National Boulevard, at the southwest corner of Kimball Park. This new 49,000-square-foot facility was one of the first approved for funding under the 2000 State Library Bond Act. It is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2005.

Cost: $12 million.

Architect: Carrier Johnson.

Project manager: Daniel Luker.

Project engineer: Terry Rowland.

Benchmark Contractors, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Morley Builders, has begun construction on a new student housing project for American Campus Communities at UC Irvine campus. The Vista del Campo Norte Student Apartments (Phase II) is a 26-acre development that will provide housing for 1,390 undergraduates and 255 graduates. The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in July.

Cost: $73 million.

Good & Roberts, Inc. general contractors recently wrapped up tenant improvement construction for Zimmer Dental at 6221 El Camino Real in Carlsbad. The renovation of the 72,425-square-foot facility included a dental implant manufacturing area, and supporting and training office.

Cost: $3.3 million.

Superintendent: Kirt Watson.

Architect: Smith Consulting Architects, McParlane & Associates, MPE Consulting, Inc.

Subcontractors: Ickler Electric, Pacific Rim Mechanical and Minshew Bros.

Ninyo & Moore finished geotechnical services, including preparing the environmental impact report, for the Pine Tree Wind Project, located in the Tehachapi Mountains, about 12 miles north of the town of Mojave in Kern County. The project consists of a wind turbine generator site on 12.5 square miles of mountainous land, plus several miles of off-site improvements within Pine Tree Canyon and Jawbone Canyon.

Sully-Jones Roofing Co. completed re-roofing of the Shady Terrace apartment building at 320 Shady Lane in El Cajon. Sully-Jones replaced approximately 11,000 square feet of old roofing on six buildings in the complex managed by Hoban Property Management. The roof was replaced with a polyester fiber material.

Cost: $84,000.
