Roel Construction Co. completed construction of Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran Church at 6600 Black Rail Road. The scope of the work included a 14,334-square-foot, two-story sanctuary and preschool on a 5.9-acre site. The project included a 16-foot cross on a 44-foot tower.

Johnson & Jennings General Contracting has completed tenant improvement construction for the office space occupied by Essel Enterprises, LLC, a real estate brokerage firm at 225 Broadway in Downtown San Diego. The project entailed the build-out of new offices with all glass interior walls and conference rooms.

Cost: $150,000.

Subcontractors: Interior Specialties, B & B; Acoustics, Zephyr Painting, and Resource Floors.

Swinerton Builders, a San Diego-based general contractor, has completed the steel structure for San Diego State University’s new BioScience Center. The 38,000-square-foot, open-architecture classroom and laboratory facility is located on the main campus. The project is expected to be completed in October.

Cost: $7 million.

KMA Architecture & Engineering has designs under way for Phase III of the Liberty Station Office District on the site of San Diego’s former Naval Training Center. Phase I, which includes two buildings totaling 102,000 square feet, was completed in 2003, and is 100 percent leased. Phase II, also comprised of two buildings totaling 90,000 square feet, is under construction and leasing is under way. Phase III will include two two-story, 37,000-square-foot structures located within the boundaries of Liberty Station’s historic core.

Smith Consulting Architects completed tenant improvement construction for the new 23,313-square-foot corporate, 10-story offices of Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial within the Plaza La Jolla at 4350 La Jolla Village Drive in University Towne Center. Smith Consulting served as interior designer for the project, which included improvements to the entire fifth floor and a portion of the fourth floor.

Royster Group Construction, Inc. has completed the renovation of the John Boyle Law Offices at 610 India St. in Downtown San Diego. The scope of the work included demolition of existing walls and the creation of several new offices.
