San Diego-based Aurora Biosciences Corp. announced the appointment of Stuart J.M. Collinson as chief executive officer, replacing Dr. Timothy Rink.
Collinson, who joined Aurora as president in May after heading the British-based private biopharmaceutical firm Andaris Ltd., will juggle two roles , president and CEO.
He was also appointed to the board of directors.
“I look forward to leading Aurora’s outstanding team to commercialize further our powerful drug discovery products and services, as well as continuing to develop innovative technologies,” Collinson said.
Rink, 53, an Englishman, said he stepped down as Aurora’s CEO to return to Europe but will remain chairman of the board of directors.
Rink, who served three years as CEO, will maintain an active role with Aurora for “some time,” expanding its ultra-high-throughput screening technology to Europe, Rin
