Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of San Diego sent a $1.5 million check to the city last month as part of its contract with the city as its exclusive beverage provider.
The marketing rights fee is the first revenue from the corporate partnership approved by the City Council in November that is estimated to generate between $6.7 million and $23.6 million over the next 12 years.
Pepsi will place at least 500 vending machines on city property and pay a minimum of guaranteed commission of $250,000.
