Chicken of the Sea Lands Seattle Firm

Chicken of the Sea International, based in San Diego, has agreed to purchase the assets of CI Seafoods, Inc., based in Bellevue, Wash., for an undisclosed price.

CI Seafoods, with annual revenues of $12 million, imports, sells and distributes canned seafood under its own brands: Jonah, Pacific Pearl, and Perla Pacifica, and other private labels. The company’s markets include the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Chicago, Boston and New York.

CI Seafoods is a subsidiary of Itochu Corp. of Japan.

“This acquisition will provide Chicken of the Sea International with greater penetration and increased visibility, particularly in the Pacific Northwest,” said Dennis Mussell, the company’s president.
