Cal State San Marcos Kicks Off Fall 2007 & #8201;’In the Executive’s Chair’ & #8201;Series

Cal State San Marcos will be offering the College of Business Administration’s “In the Executive’s Chair” course for its sixth year starting Sept. 5.

Inspired by the Bravo television series, “Inside the Actors Studio,” the class is part of the university’s Center for Leadership, Innovation and Mentorship Building.

The class “premieres” with a dozen senior-level executives visiting the campus to share tips, tricks, strategies and challenges of running a business or organization.

The class meets from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. most Wednesdays through Nov. 28 in Markstein Hall, Room 125. The class is open to students and members of the campus and business community at no charge, space permitting.

According to hosts Rajnandini “Raj” Pillai, executive director of CLIMB, and David Bennett, director of business community relations who is also a co-creator of the course, the major objective is to expose students to a variety of successful people who discuss their philosophies of business and life.

“In addition, we want students to hear how these individuals make critical business decisions and develop their leadership abilities,” said the two hosts.

Dennis Guseman, dean of the College of Business Administration, said the course brings faculty and students closer to real-world business situations. Students are required to research the company and related industries and be prepared to interview the speaker.
