Four San Diego construction industry firms report they have won bids for projects in recent weeks.
Douglas E. Barnhart Inc. was awarded three new contracts by the U.S. Navy for its solution order concept program. The first project is a $404,000 upgrade of a vehicle maintenance facility, armory addition and parking lot at Camp Pendleton. Completion is expected in six months.
The second project is a $320,000 job to replace rain gutters on the Arcade Building at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. It will take about three months to complete, said Doug Barnhart, president of the company.
The third project involves repairing walls of a building at the Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, he said.
Meanwhile, Smith Consulting Architects has planning and design started for a 40,000-square-foot office and industrial building for C & D; Aerospace in the Carlsbad Research Center in Carlsbad.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in January, with completion expected in July of next year.
The building will be a one-story, tilt-up concrete building with steel frames, curtain glass walls and a mezzanine, said Cheryl “Dennie” Smith, president of the firm.
Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consultants has been retained to provide consulting services to the city of Vista for the Vista Village Redevelopment Project. It’s a major redevelopment project in downtown Vista, said Elizabeth Morud, a spokeswoman for the engineering firm. Ninyo & Moore will provide geotechnical observation and compaction testing of fill soils and testing concrete for compressive strength.
Roel Constuction Co. Inc. has been awarded the contract to build tenant improvements for the banquet facility at the Hilton Hotel at Mission Bay. The 15,000-square-foot project will consist of renovation to the existing restaurant and bar area, as well as the conversion of a restaurant to a meeting room. The job is expected to be completed in February 2000, said Jacquie Johnston, a Roel spokeswoman.
