Bajagua Project Receives Mexican Property Concession

Bajagua LLC said Aug. 9 it received a legal notice from the government of Mexico to construct a sewage treatment facility near Tijuana.

The property concession, issued by Mexico’s National Water Commission, is for land along the Alamar River near the El Vergel region in Tijuana.

San Diego-based Bajagua has been seeking U.S. federal funding for the Mexican project for several years, with part of the holdup caused by the lack of the recently delivered document.

As proposed, the plant would treat 59 million gallons of sewage daily to a standard that meets all clean-water requirements of both the United States and Mexico.

“This is a major step forward for Bajagua and for clean water,” said Jim Simmons, Bajagua’s managing partner.
