The bachelor pad of all bachelor pads remains on the market. Power broker Gregg Neuman of Neuman & Neuman continues to list a four-bedroom, five-bath penthouse in the Renaissance, a residential high-rise at the corner of Market and Front streets downtown. The good news for a would-be buyer is that Neuman has dropped the price to $7.5 million from the $12.5 million first named in the summer of 2007. The condo, which occupies floors 22 and 23, features 4,300 square feet of living space, 1,400 square feet of patio area and a nice wine rack. The firm reports it’s been retained by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology to help design a new research campus and graduate university there Surf’s up at UC San Diego. Transworld Surf magazine names the campus third best in the nation for surfing, as well as for its academics and life experience, among other indices. Being close to famous Black’s Beach apparently helps lift the school’s rankings. Sports Illustrated has also given a nod to UCSD as a surfing Mecca Ace is the place, and that place is downtown. Locally based Sterling Hardware Group, an independent hardware retailer, says it will open an Ace store in downtown San Diego next spring at 655 Sixth Ave. The store will feature 7,500 square feet of retail space and employ 15 workers Well, here’s a winner. Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been named Corporation of the Year by the San Diego Urban League. The Urban League notes that Enterprise has supported its decades-long mission of empowering minority groups in the SoCal region … And speaking of corporate contributions More than 1,600 residents recycled more than 150,000 pounds of electronic materials on Nov. 15, as part of a recycling event sponsored by Sony Electronics and Waste Management.
