AMN Healthcare Services Inc., a San Diego nurse staffing firm, reported Aug. 6 second-quarter net income of $9.4 million, up 4 percent compared with the like quarter of 2007.
Revenue for the quarter was $313 million, a gain of 6 percent versus the like quarter of 2007, and up 7 percent from the first quarter.
Chief Executive Officer Susan Nowakowski says the company made improvements in gross margins.
AMN reaffirmed its per-share growth for this year to increase from 11 percent to 16 percent over 2007, and revised its projected revenue growth for this year to 6 percent to 8 percent versus last year.
For the third quarter, AMN said revenue should range from $320 million to $323 million, while diluted per share net income would finish from 31 to 33 cents.
Traded on the New York Stock Exchange under AHS, shares closed Aug. 7 at $16.48, down 3 percent from the prior day’s close. The stock’s 52-week range is $14.25 to $20.05.
