“San Diego-based Alliance Pharmaceutical Corp. submitted a new drug application to the Food and Drug Administration for its ultrasound contrast agent, called Imagent.
The application includes clinical data from two late-stage trials of Imagent , used in ultrasound heart studies to enhance the visibility of the walls of the heart, Alliance reported Oct. 13.
Alliance claims because Imagent provides clearer pictures, it can detect cardiac abnormalities better than contrast agents already on the market.
Imagent was co-developed with Germany-based Schering AG, which will market the product worldwide pending final approval.”
