AIS Acquires Complex Drive Data Center

American Internet Services, a major data center operator in San Diego, said Nov. 17 it acquired fellow data center Complex Drive in Kearny Mesa. Terms of the deal were not announced.

AIS said that the acquisition will create the widest range of carrier-neutral data center solutions in town.

Last year, AIS opened an 80,000-square-foot data center. Prior to its latest acquisition, it had 105,000 square feet of data center space. The acquisition of the 20,000-square-foot Complex Drive campus reflects its commitment to the San Diego market, the company said.

No changes are planned to either company’s existing staff or management team.

“We are extremely excited and proud to join forces with Complex Drive, which has built its reputation as one of San Diego’s finest data center operators for its flexibility, expertise and superior customer service,” said Alessandra Carrasco, chief executive of AIS. “The joint strengths and values of both our companies equal a superior breed of service provider and benefit to our customers, partners and employees, across the board.”

AIS touts itself as San Diego’s largest colocation company. It opened in 1994 and owns and operates multiple data centers in San Diego. AIS’ data centers are carrier-neutral facilities designed as “technology fortresses.”

Complex Drive consists of three data center facilities in the San Diego Spectrum business park of Kearny Mesa.
