The Active Network, a La Jolla-based provider of registration services to participatory sports events and other activities, said this week it has acquired Public Enterprise Group, a Huntington Beach developer of municipal marketing programs for an undisclosed price.
Public Enterprise, with five employees, has a base of clients among cities, counties, municipal agencies, public hospitals, and health care organizations.
The Active Network planned to raise about $46 million in an initial public offering last year, but withdrew the offering Aug. 12. For its most recently reported financial statement in 2003, privately held Active Network reported a net loss of $33.9 million on revenues of $15.1 million. It has about 350 employees.
