Nonprofits Pitch Their Products at SAIL Event

Four San Diego nonprofits delivered their pitches for a chance to win $2,500 on May 16. The four finalists had participated in local 501c3 Mission Edge’s Social Enterprise Accelerator and Impact Lab (SAIL), which is designed to help nonprofits grow and maximize their impact.

The SAIL accelerator was created in 2017. So far, 27 organizations have graduated from the 12-week program, CEO Ken Davenport said. Most of the participants are nonprofits, but the accelerator is also open to social impact organizations.

Of the nine participants, the four finalists include:

• Clean Car 360, which offers eco-friendly cleaning sprays and wipes for car interiors and exteriors.

• Passion Purpose Academy, which offers career coaching, youth programs, and conferences for schools and organizations.

• Rise Up Industries, a nonprofit that helps former gang members reintegrate into communities

• Wesley House Student Residence, which provides housing and student services near San Diego State University’s campus.

Mission Edge also kicked off its City SAIL program, accepting 10 startups into a 10-week accelerator. The program is underwritten by the City of San Diego and designed for organizations to have both a social and economic impact.
