The San Diego Business Journal presents A Salute to San Diego’s Healthcare Heroes Awards Event. San Diego’s Healthcare CEOs will honor 3 recipients within each of their organizations who have gone above and beyond in their perspective fields.

Nick Macchione has served since 2008 as Director of the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency, an agency that annually supports 1.2 million of the County’s 3.3 million people with health, housing and human services. He has over 30 years of clinical and executive experience leading and managing large, complex health and human service delivery systems in various settings in the New York metropolitan area and County of San Diego.  Nick is the architect of, and launched in 2010, “Live Well San Diego,” a nationally recognized population health strategy focused on improving life expectancy and social well-being throughout the county so that all San Diegans have the full opportunity to be healthy, safe and thriving. Nick holds dual master’s degrees from Columbia University and New York University and a professional certification from Harvard University specializing in executive leadership, management and health policy.  He is board-certified in healthcare management and holds two national fellowships in community health and public health leadership.
