The U.S. Navy recently exercised an option giving Virginia Beach, Va.-based QED Systems Inc. a one-year, $33.5 million deal to plan shipyard visits by Navy ships. Roughly one-third of the work (amounting to about $11.4 million) will be performed in San Diego and the balance will be performed in Norfolk, Va.
The deal affects Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, and includes options that would bring the total value of the contract to $102.5 million.
The Naval Sea Systems Command of Washington, D.C. awarded the deal, announced Jan. 30.
