NSA Certifies ViaSat Encryption Device

ViaSat Inc. announced an important seal of approval for a device that handles classified data.

The National Security Agency certified ViaSat’s 100-gigabit-per-second Type 1 Ethernet encryptor, the Carlsbad business announced on March 27.

The rack-mounted encryption device is called the KG-142. It delivers the encryption power of 10 separate 10-gigabit-per-second encryptors, ViaSat said.

Customers are interested in using the 100-gigabit-per-second capability in cloud computing and data transport applications, said Jerry Goodwin, chief operating officer for ViaSat’s Government Systems Division, in a prepared statement.
