The U.S. Navy awarded BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair its second contract in a week.
On March 8, the service tapped the shipyard to perform maintenance, alterations and modifications to the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Cowpens. The contract modification is worth $47.3 million. Work on the project — called a special selected restricted availability — will last through October.
On March 7, the Navy awarded BAE Systems a $28.2 million contract modification for work on the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Higgins.
The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego awarded the deals.
