The U.S. Navy awarded BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair a $26.7 million contract modification covering work on the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry.
Work will include depot-level maintenance, alterations and modifications. The Navy expects work to be complete by January.
The Harpers Ferry is the lead ship of its class and was first deployed in 1995. The 609-foot ship carries up to 500 U.S. Marines and their landing craft.
The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego awarded the contract.
