The United States Chamber of Commerce awarded North San Diego Business Chamber with 5-Star Accreditation.
“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond P. Towle of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”
This accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive the accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in its operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology.
Of the 7,022 chambers in the United States, 206 are accredited, the North San Diego Business Chamber said.
“Our team and board of directors have worked hard for this, making sure all of our programs and practices are relevant for the business community and the members we represent” said Debra Rosen, president and CEO of North San Diego Business Chamber.
Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.
According to North San Diego Business Chamber, it represents over 800 businesses and 150,000 employees.
