The San Diego Business Journal has announced the Award of Distinction honorees for the 2016 Women Who Mean Business Awards.
This longstanding awards program celebrates its 23rd year in honoring the exceptional women who have made a difference in San Diego’s business, cultural and civic scenes.
This year’s Community Service Award honoree is Alicia Gwynn. Dr. Alicia Gwynn is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, president and CEO of Gwynn Enterprises, president and CEO for Gwynn Foods, wife of the late baseball great Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, and president of the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation.
Irene Oberbauer will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Irene has been a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for Komen San Diego and past president of San Diego County Credit Union. Irene serves as a board member for many philanthropic organizations, including Komen San Diego, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Holiday Bowl.
The Exemplary Service Award honoree is Arlene Lieberman. Arlene has been a member of San Diego’s business community for the past 35 years. Arlene serves as executive director of the Barney & Barney Foundation and serves as a board member for Walden Family Services.
The awards program is slated for Wednesday, November 9, at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center and will recognize finalists and winners. This is the city’s biggest and most anticipated reception and awards program of the year honoring the region’s most successful, dynamic women. The event will feature celebrity emcees Pat Brown and Susan Taylor.
