In response to significant gaps highlighted by the pandemic, President Biden recently signed an executive order to launch a National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative (NBBI) calling for reinforced bio-resiliency nationwide. This initiative provides incentives for increased public/private collaboration in the life sciences and encourages the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and new facilities. Adopting and implementing the suggested, more innovative approaches to drug development and manufacturing may present technical and regulatory hurdles, including increased productivity with limited resources, across the board. Sequoia Biotech Consulting’s dedicated team of over 150 project managers, validation specialists, process engineers, business analysts, organizational change managers, and quality professionals are rising to meet the challenges ahead.
Founded in 2013 to fulfill the need for a specialized consultancy filled with professionals ready to support mission-critical projects and operations, Sequoia is approaching its 10th anniversary. Over the decade, the team’s deep expertise and ability to roll up their sleeves to strategically guide tomorrow’s big breakthroughs have led to over 125 satisfied partners across more than 1,300 projects. To meet increased industry demand the company’s focus has grown dramatically beyond implementing QMS and process validation to supporting cGMP facilities construction and M&A change management.
In addition, the company is scaling operations with two new executive hires joining its San Diego headquarters: Tom Kaylor as Chief Financial Officer and Erica Golding as Vice President of People and Culture.
Tom Kaylor is a Certified Public Accountant and seasoned financial executive with over 25 years of experience in accounting and financial management. He previously served as CFO of several life science-related organizations, including Revecore, American Health Associates, and MEDLAB. As CFO, Tom will oversee short and long-term financial decisions to increase company growth and capacity to serve biotech customers in North America and beyond.
Erica Golding brings over 15 years of experience and passion to her role as the VP of People and Culture at Sequoia. She most recently served as Senior Director of Human Resources at Agena Bioscience preceded by various HR roles at Sapphire Energy, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, and Invitrogen. Erica’s role marks an important milestone in the company’s commitment to its people and values of family, integrity, dedication, authenticity, and humility. She will ensure that Sequoia continues to attract the best professionals in the industry and put them first so that they can bring their best to every project.
Founder and CEO, Brandy Bullen, shared, “We are thrilled to welcome Tom and Erica to the team! The deep knowledge and relationships they bring to Sequoia will help us continue to build out our service offering, grow our client base, and expand our geographic presence. Most importantly, they will ensure that we can continue to uphold our mission and support our employees and customers in today’s atmosphere of changing regulatory requirements, updated clinical guidance, and increased biomanufacturing excellence.”
