The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and its North County chapter comprise the largest hunger relief organization in San Diego County. During the COVID-19 crisis, Jim was quick to mobilize and engage the Food Bank to address the immediate need. Before the Coronavirus crisis, the Food Banks were already serving more than 350,000 people per month in communities throughout San Diego County. In the first two weeks of the emergency, the food banks conducted 175 food distributions and gave away nearly 600,000 more pounds of nutritious food to seniors, working poor families, low-income military families, children, the recently laid off and furloughed, and those who had never faced food insecurity before. Since COVID-19, the Food Bank has distributed 11 million pounds of food and purchased $4 milllion of food to meet the growing needs of the community. To quote Jim, “we are the right organization at the right place and the right time. The San Diego Food Bank will support our community throughout this crisis.”
