Scripps’ 28th Annual Spinoff Gala held recently raised $2.5 million to benefit Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. Nearly 300 people attended the event at the Hyatt Regency La Jollaat Aventine, which featured Evan Ruggiero, a tap dancer who lost a leg to bone cancer. Guests bid on 40 luxury items in a silent auction and 10 items in a live auction. Scripps Health and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to create Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center, a clinically integrated cancer care program that recently began treating patients in San Diego. The partnership brings together the expertise of doctors at Scripps and MD Anderson to offer patient-centered care, using some of the most advanced cancer treatments available.
