Scripps 47th Annual Mercy Ball raised $2.5 million to help fund the construction of the new state-of-the-art Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center on the Scripps Mercy Hospital campus. Nearly 560 people attended the event. The new cancer center will provide the latest in treatments, research and clinical trials, and other support services critical to patients and their families. During the event, William Stanton III, M.D., Scripps Mercy Cancer Center medical director, was recognized for his 46 years of compassionate care with a donor’s gift of a $5 million endowed medical directorship. Scripps leaders, physicians, donors and community volunteers gathered at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown San Diego. The Mighty Untouchables band provided the entertainment. Honorary co-chairs of the event were the Mickelson family; Mary, Phil Sr., Phil Jr. and Amy.
