The U.S. Navy awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries a $44.8 million contract for shipyard work to the USS O’Kane, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. Under the deal, the business will conduct a combination of maintenance, repair and modernization work.

If the Navy exercises options to the contract, the deal will be worth $51.5 million.

Work on the firm-fixed-price contract will run through January 2020.

The Navy received three bids on the contract. The Naval Sea Systems Command of Washington, D.C. made the award, announced on Oct. 26.
