— Teradata Corp., the publicly traded data analytics business that has about 1,000 employees in Rancho Bernardo, has created and filled two new executive positions based in San Diego.

Teradata (NYSE: TDC) recently tapped executive vice president and chief product officer Oliver Ratzesberger as its first chief operating officer. In that role Ratzesberger will oversee Teradata’s global businesses and lead the company’s go-to-market, products and services strategies. He will continue to report to Teradata president and CEO Vic Lund.

The company also announced it hired Martyn Etherington as its first chief marketing officer, reporting to Ratzesberger.

Etherington was most recently CMO at Cisco Jasper, Cisco’s internet of things platform provider. Previously he served as executive vice president, CMO and chief of staff at the telecommunications company Mitel. Etherington is tasked with bolstering Teradata’s cloud strategy.

Teradata’s headquarters are in Dayton, Ohio, but the company has more than 20 other offices in the U.S., including its Rancho Bernardo campus, which is now home to about two-thirds of the company’s executive team.

Last year, the company acquired the Solana Beach-based startup StackIQ.
