Kratos Pulls in $2.6M Satellite Communications Deal

Kratos RT Logic received a $2.6 million U.S. government contract for satellite communications work.

San Diego-based Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: KTOS) announced the contract win June 15.

Under a program called Pilot Phase 2, Kratos will develop a proof-of-concept system enabling satellite communication roaming. Put simply, Kratos’ system will let government satellite users roam, similar to the way cell phone users roam through multiple cellular networks. The point is to increase capacity, enhance resiliency and improve responsiveness of wideband satellite communications.

The program is sponsored by the Space and Missile Systems Center, Military Satellite Communications Systems Directorate, Advanced Concepts Division of the U.S. Air Force.

Intelsat General, SES Government Solutions and Inmarsat will work with Kratos on the project.
