Paul Barber, who joined JMI Equity in 1998, has been working with software companies for more than 25 years. He has served on more than 20 private, public and nonprofit boards. JMI Equity is private equity firm based in Baltimore with an office in La Jolla. It focuses on software and technology companies. Though former Padres owner and software maven John Moores was an original limited partner, JMI Equity is not affiliated with local companies JMI Realty and JMI Sports. Barber served as chairman of the board of ServiceNow from its original funding in 2005 until 2016. He is currently a director of Applied Systems, Healthx, Innovative Interfaces, and Kronos. Prior to joining JMI, Barber was a managing director and head of the software investment banking practice at Alex Brown& Sons. He also worked in product marketing at Microsoft and in investment banking at Merrill Lynch & Co.
