The family-owned Pho Cao Dao & Grill Vietnamese restaurant is scheduled to open its fifth location Jan. 12 at 12719 Poway Road.

Founded in 2001 by the Huynh family, Pho Ca Dao already has restaurants in Mira Mesa, East County, Rancho Bernardo and Santee. A restaurant is planned for Chula Vista later this year.

The 5,000 square-foot Poway location includes a sit-down restaurant and bar serving craft beer and wine, a catering kitchen, self-order kiosks and curbside service.

To celebrate its opening, the restaurant is offering free PCD pho – a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup simmered in broth - or any rice dish through Jan. 14 to local first responders who helped Southern California get through its prolonged fire season.

“The Huynh family recipes were created in our own kitchen and have been passed down from generations,” said Thi “Duke” Huynh. “We feel humbled the San Diego community has embraced us and our time-tested culinary traditions.”
