LRAD Corp. said on Jan. 4 that it received an $895,000 follow-on order from an undisclosed law enforcement client in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Rancho Bernardo business produces acoustic hailing devices able to send a very loud, very focused beam of sound over a distance of two miles. Its devices are billed as 10 times louder than bullhorns and vehicle public address systems, and significantly more intelligible.
The business takes its name from the acronym Long Range Acoustic Device. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol LRAD.
The client will mount its new electronic gear on vehicles.
“LRAD’s superior broadcast range, vocal clarity and durability continue to drive follow-on orders,” Richard Danforth, the company’s CEO, said in a prepared statement.
