Sharp Grossmont Hospital has opened a new clinic, which looks to reduce patient volumes in the hospital’s emergency room, one of the busiest in San Diego County.
The clinic targets people who need urgent medical attention, but who don’t need to visit the emergency room. That includes conditions like eye, skin and ear infections; minor burns or cuts; strains and sprains; broken bones that are not severe, and more.
The facility encompasses 14 exam rooms, a guest lounge and outdoor terrace. It’s aimed at patients who need care not only during normal business hours, but also on the weekend or late in the evening, when urgent care clinics may not be open, with hours of Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sharp Grossmont Hospital, the largest acute-care hospital in East County, is part of Sharp Healthcare.
