San Diego-based RF Industries Ltd. reported net income of $192,000 or 2 cents per share on net sales of $7.8 million in its third quarter, which ended July 31.

In the like quarter of fiscal 2016, the business reported a net loss of $597,000 or 7 cents per share on net sales of $7.6 million.

RF Industries (Nasdaq: RFIL) makes electrical interconnect products, including fiber optic, coaxial and cable assembly products.

During the recently ended quarter, the business said that it was able to cut selling and general expenses by $760,000, to $1.8 million. The third quarter of fiscal 2016 included a one-time expense of $256,000 related to an abandoned strategic transaction.

RF Industries said it had $5.5 million in cash at the end of the quarter, up from $4.6 million in the year-ago quarter.

The business announced plans to pay a 2 cent dividend on Oct. 15
