Jenna Ryan, CEO of San Diego-based Uqora LLC, is one of 10 finalists for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s InnovateHER Business Challenge.
Ryan won a qualifying competition hosted by local business accelerators Hera Labs and UCSD's mystartupXX in June. Uqora sells supplements in the form of a drink mix that the company claims reduces the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs), reducing the need for doctor's visits and for antibiotics.
The nationwide InnovateHER competition highlights products, services or technology developed by entrepreneurs that have a measurable impact on the lives of women and families.
Winners from local area competitions were reviewed by a committee of SBA officials, which chose 10 finalists to participate in the SBA's National Pitch Competition on Oct. 26 in Washington, D.C.
The finalists have been invited to pitch to judges at the event, at which three awards totaling $70,000 in prize money provided by the Sara Blakely Foundation are expected to be awarded.
