Del Mar-based web development agency DiegoDev Group LLC recently announced it invested in Sorrento Valley-based DonationMatch Inc. Terms of the financing were not disclosed.

DonationMatch streamlines in-kind donations between companies and nonprofit organizations. The company, which graduated from San Diego-based business accelerator Hera Labs, has facilitated more than $28 million in donations to organizations across the U.S. and Canada.

The new funding will go to launch a new "Giveback" program via the platform in early 2018 that aims to simplify the process of holding fundraisers in coordination with restaurants. The program will be used first by a beta group of dining partners, including Dream Dinners locations in San Diego.

The DiegoDev investment will also fund improvements to other features of the DonationMatch platform, such as data integrations for strategic decision-making.

“DonationMatch is the perfect partner for our company, as it aligns with the community-building aspect of our mission,” said Eric Van Johnson, chief technology officer of DiegoDev Group. “Our investment in DonationMatch will allow us to use our web and e-commerce skills for the greater good.”

DonationMatch, founded and led by CEO Renee Zau, was named to the SheEO "Top 25 Ventures" list for U.S.-based companies in November.
