The San Diego law firm Procopio has landed former two-term San Diego City Attorney Jan Goldsmith to serve as an of-counsel lawyer on its litigation team.
Goldsmith, who termed out with the city in 2016, has more than 40 years of legal experience. He served as a San Diego Superior Court judge for a decade, was a member of the state Assembly for three terms and worked in Poway as a councilman and mayor for several years.
Early in his career, he specialized in business litigation.
“I’m excited to return to private practice, and I see Procopio as a perfect fit,” Goldsmith said in a news release. “I’ve practiced the law, I’ve written the law, I’ve taught the law and I’ve enforced the law. All of those experiences will strengthen my work on behalf of Procopio’s clients.”
Procopio’s managing partner, Tom Turner, said the firm is extremely pleased to welcome Goldsmith.
“Jan contributes a remarkably broad and deep range of experience to Procopio, and he is widely admired for his demonstrated leadership, intellect and determination,” he said in the news release. “We are highly confident that Jan will contribute invaluable strategic insight and performance to clients in a wide variety of practice areas.”
Procopio has more than 150 lawyers based in San Diego; Silicon Valley; Phoenix; Austin, Texas; and Los Angeles.
