Sempra Energy has appointed former industry consultant P. Kevin Chase to fill the newly created position of chief information officer.
Chase, 48, worked from 2011 to 2016 as chief information officer and senior vice president of technology and supply chain at Energy Future Holdings. He was CIO and vice president at a subsidiary of the Dallas-based company for three years before that.
From 2005 to 2008, he served as vice president of Black & Veatch, a global engineering, consulting and construction firm that acquired a management consulting and tech services firm Chase co-founded in 1999, called Fortegra.
Chase earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed the Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program.
Sempra said in a March 7 news release Chase will be responsible for corporate-wide governance, policy and strategic direction in matters of information and related technologies.
“Kevin’s significant experience in information technology and the energy industry will help keep our company at the forefront of the best technology practices,” G. Joyce Rowland, senior vice president and chief human resources and administrative officer, said in the release.
Sempra is a San Diego-based energy services holding company that reported more than $10 billion in revenues in 2016. It has more than 16,000 employees.
