The Defense Department announced two contracts for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. Work on both deals will be done in Poway.
The U.S. Air Force awarded a production contract for Block 30 ground control stations for unmanned aircraft. The deal has a not-to-exceed value of $134 million and all work is expected to be complete by January 2020.
The U.S. Air Force also acted as an intermediary for a foreign military contract. The French armed forces exercised a $24.9 million option for logistics support for its MQ-9 unmanned aircraft. The MQ-9 is the heavier version of the Predator aircraft that the U.S. Air Force calls the Reaper. Work will run through Dec. 31, 2018.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio awarded both contracts, which were announced Dec. 8.
