Cubic Corp. said on April 20 that it received a $4.5 million contract from the government of Canada to replace an obsolete data communications network and exercise control center.

The equipment will be installed in the Canadian Army’s weapons effect simulation system in Wainwright, Alberta.

The deal calls for Cubic Global Defense to replace hardware and upgrade software associated with the communications network and the control center. Upgrades will be complete in time for a May 2018 military exercise.

Cubic (NYSE: CUB) is based in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa neighborhood. It provides products and services to militaries. A separate division serves mass transit agencies.
