Explora BioLabs, a growing preclinical contract research organization headquartered in San Diego, is expanding into South San Francisco.
The company has leased an 18,000-square-foot facility in the Genesis tower, located at One Tower Place along Highway 101 and bordering the life science cluster.
Explora expects to start operations in the new facility in the second quarter of next year.
“Our flexible, full-service pharmacology accelerator model has proven very popular with biotech and pharma researchers in San Diego,” said Richard Lin, CEO and founder of Explora BioLabs, in a statement. “We will soon be able to offer Bay Area companies the same quality, cost savings and convenience of performing their preclinical pharmacology research programs at a well-managed, professionally-staffed facility.”
With the new space in South San Francisco, Explora will have over 60,000 square feet of pharmacology space in California. The company is currently housed in four facilities in San Diego, with a fifth local building in development by Phase 3 Real Estate Partners (opening late this year).
