Cubic Corp. said it received a two-year, $12.7 million contract extension from Atlanta’s rapid transit operator for automated fare collection maintenance services.
Options on the contract would increase its value to $52 million.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority awarded the deal, which Cubic announced Oct. 27.
Cubic (NYSE: CUB) designed and delivered the agency’s Breeze automated fare collection card system.
Atlanta is growing fast. The Georgia city’s metro region is expected to add 2.5 million people by 2040, growing from a current 5.6 million people to 8.1 million, according to the regional planning agency, the Atlanta Regional Commission.
