The San Diego Association of Governments has awarded joint venture firm Mid-Coast Transit Contractors a $921.8 million contract to manage the construction of the Mid-Coast Trolley.
Mid-Coast Transit Contractors, led by Stacy and Witbeck Inc., includes Skanska USA and Herzog Contracting Corp.
The 11.5-mile light rail project, with nine stations, will extend service from the Old Town Transit Center to University City.
Designers for the project include Parsons Brinkerhoff, Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. and HDR Inc.
Preliminary construction, such as relocating utility lines, is underway at the project site.
Service is estimated to start in 2021.
