AttackIQ Inc. Raises $8.8M in Series A Funding

Sorrento Mesa-based AttackIQ Inc. recently closed $8.8 million in series A funding, the company announced on Nov. 30.

Index Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures and Telstra Ventures participated in the round.

AttackIQ plans to use the money to add employees in engineering and to expand its sales and marketing efforts, among other things.

AttackIQ’s software product, FireDrill, tests all of the other software that its clients have deployed against hackers, to see if there are any holes in their defenses. Company CEO Stephan Chenette co-founded the firm with Rajesh Sharma, the company’s vice president of engineering, in 2013.

The company’s clients are in a variety of vertical markets — including social media, telecommunications, financial services, health care, biotechnology and defense — as well as in government.
