Solana Beach-based Seismic said on May 25 that it raised $40 million in a series C round led by General Atlantic.

Seismic offers software that generates marketing collateral for sales teams, personalizing it as appropriate. The platform also offers analytics on how well the marketing collateral works.

Seismic plans to use the new funds to broaden the capabilities of its platform, and to expand its sales and marketing staff. The company plans to get into new vertical markets and expand its presence in current markets.

“Our platform eliminates the 30 hours per month the average sales representative spends searching for and creating marketing collateral,” said Doug Winter, Seismic’s CEO, in a prepared statement.

Gary Reiner, the former chief information officer at GE and operating partner at General Atlantic, will join the Seismic board. JMI Equity and Jackson Square Ventures are also investors, as are members of the executive team.

Seismic has 150 employees.
